In 2021, UN Secretary-General António Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Though the CSM (Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism-CSM for relations with the Committee on World Food Security-CFS), the largest international space of civil society organizations (CSOs) working to eradicate food insecurity and malnutrition argued with the main problems with the FSS are as follows: • It is grounded neither in human and Peoples’ rights nor in system change for justice; • It is dominated by corporate interests; • It aims at replacing (international) public institutions with multi-stakeholder platforms. The FSS lacks a coherent and comprehensive human and Peoples’ rights approach. It refers to the right to food in one of its action tracks1 but this reference is marginal. The rights of women, indigenous peoples, workers, peasants, pastoralists, the landless, small-scale family farmers, fisherfolk, urban food insecure, consumers, youth and future generations are clearly not at the center of this Summit. We know about various actions of transnational corporations for commercialization of agricultural sector including the seeds in Bangladesh and all over the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the situation more challenging in respective sectors. In this context, Right to Food Bangladesh has undertook series of programs during 25-28 July 2021 in solidarity with the Peoples’ Counter Mobilization called by the CSM. Let us unite together and raise our voice with the slogan “Enact Right to Food Act, Rise Up Against Corporate Food System”.
